CIMR–Kings College Open Day for year 12/13 students
On July 16th, two groups of year 12/13 from around the country experienced the research environment at the CIMR first-hand at our open day. They met our researchers and students, and saw the inner workings of our specialist research facilities including world-class super-resolution microscopy.
Students spent half a day at both the CIMR and Kings, with lunch provided at Kings College.
Half day visit to the CIMR
9:30–10:00 am. Short talks from the CIMR Director, Professor Gillian Griffiths, Dr Jenny Hirst and Dr Stefan Marciniak. An overview of CIMR research and advice on career paths.
10:00–10:30 am. Informal meeting with PhD students over refreshments.
10:30–12:00 pm. Tours of the microscopy, proteomics and flow cytometry research facilities with short equipment demonstrations.
12:30–1:30 pm Lunch at Kings College.
Half day visit at Kings College
2:00–3:00 pm. Tour of King’s College with current students.
3:00–4:00 pm. Q&A with Director of Studies.
4:00–5:00 pm. Research talk with a King’s fellow in Biological Natural Sciences.
