Each Research Group in CIMR is led by a Principal Investigator. All Principal Investigators are selected by the Institute Management Committee.

- Clinical Biochemistry
- Haematology
- Medicine
- Medical Genetics
- Clinical Neurosciences
- or the Department of Pathology in the School of Biological Sciences.
