BRC 4 Year PhD Programme
Message from the Director of the 4-year NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre studentships

Thank you for our interest in our 4-year PhD programme. This programme aims to introduce graduate students with a mathematical, chemistry, biological or physical sciences background into biomedical research. The best candidates will be selected at interview and then mentored to enable them to make a choice of supervisor and project. To aid this process we will fund an MPhil in Epidemiology, Public Health or Computational Biology (whichever is the most appropriate for the student) or allow them to undertake three 10 week mini projects with different supervisors on the Addenbrooke’s Biomedical Campus. These three 10 week projects will contribute towards the award of an MRes degree. Following this introduction to biological sciences, the candidate will then select a supervisor and project for their 3 year PhD. This is a novel programme that aims to tailor training to the requirement of individual graduate students in order that they can bring their expertise to bear on a biomedical problem.
