Cambridge Institute for Medical Research

CIMR research environment committee

The CIMR and the MRC-Mitochondrial Biology Unit (MBU) work together to promote a positive and inclusive working environment. We aim to support excellence in research by fostering equality of opportunity, collaboration, integrity, openness and wellbeing among all researchers and staff at all career stages.

We have an active Research Environment Committee (REC) with representation from across the building.

You can contact us via our email address – REC@cimr.cam.ac.uk

This brings together and expands upon previous initiatives including the CIMR EDI Champions Group and the MBU-WIDE committee.

We believe that diversity is at the heart of science - the best science and research take place when great ideas can be heard, and the brightest and best work together in a positive and vibrant research environment. Therefore:

  • We are committed to recruiting people from diverse backgrounds, with varied experiences and perspectives and champion an inclusive and positive culture, in which different ideas and opinions are actively welcomed, and everyone is valued and respected.

  • As part of the University of Cambridge, we aim to support our people and their careers through excellent mentoring, a wide range of training opportunities and clear career pathways to enable all to thrive.

The University of Cambridge holds a Silver Athena Swan Award and a Bronze Race Equality Charter Award
